Eucharistic Ministers:

Extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist have been selected by the Pastor, and are trained and commissioned to distribute Holy Communion. Upon their commission, they receive the wooden cross worn during the Mass. Ministers also distribute the host to the sick or homebound, providing those parishioner's the continued consideration of remaining part of the parish. This home visit may be the only spiritual event of the week for the homebound person of faith.

Lectors:

It is the duty of the lector to read the Word of God to our brothers and sisters in the congregation.

Lectors bring the printed word to life ~ touching, moving and inspiring those who listen. Their delivery of the readings enhances the celebration of liturgy.

The lector reads each scriptural passage after studying its meaning and saying the words aloud before going on the altar. They prepare for their readings because the words they are reading are the Word of God and it must be proclaimed with clarity and meaning for every person in the congregation. Lectors are a visible sign of the active role lay persons play in our Church today.
