The original tiny church of St. Francis began celebrating Mass in 1860 for a small community of faithful Catholics. The parish grew quickly. In 1876, the pastor, Father James Fagan, undertook the building of the present structure and on November 30, 1890, the new church was dedicated.

Parishioners immediately began to add to the parish by building an elementary school. Dedicated on September 3, 1900, the school had 12 classrooms, a large hall, gymnasium, and meeting rooms. The school stands today as a reminder of the parish’s commitment to Catholic education and our belief that youth must be a priority.

In 1903, the rectory was completed and ready for occupancy.

St. Francis parish holds many traditions and much history. Since its founding, parishioners have been blessed with dedicated priests, sisters and families who have made it into the vibrant parish it is today.
